Event Details

Pursuing a career as a professional artist requires documenting your artwork professionally, and the quality of the presentation of your artistic output can determine the future of your career and is essential for securing exhibitions, grants and other professional opportunities.

This practical workshop introduces you to the basic skills required to successfully photograph your artwork for print and promotion. Learn the basics of digital capture, including lighting techniques and camera skills, including the lowdown on aperture shutter speed control, ISO ratings and white balance.

Discover how to edit photographs in Photoshop, as well as the import and export of digital images and file handling.

$75 ($60 for Flying Arts Members)

Participants to Bring:

– Lunch or snacks (there are food establishments within walking distance of the venue if preferred)
– Pen and paper or laptop for note-taking
– Small artworks to photograph 2D or 3D
– Camera and tripod if you have them

Additional Information

Joachim Froese is an art photographer living and working in Brisbane and Berlin who has exhibited widely across Australia, Europe, Asia and North America. His work is included in numerous public collections including the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, and the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art. He holds a PhD (Art), teaches photography at universities in Australia and Germany, and has been a Flying Arts tutor since 2003.
