Launched in 2011, the QRAA are Flying Arts’ signature annual art awards for established and emerging artists in regional, rural and remote Queensland.
Offering Australia’s largest total regional art awards prize pool, comprising a combination of substantial non-acquisitive cash prizes and valuable in-kind professional development opportunities (including residencies and solo exhibitions), the QRAA are considered one of Australia’s pre-eminent regional arts awards.
Open only to Queensland regional artists, the QRAA provide a unique high-profile opportunity for regional artists to showcase their artwork and grow their profile and audience reach beyond their locality. Finalists of the QRAA are exhibited in Brisbane with the winners and highly commended announced at a gala reception and are part of a regional touring exhibition.
Past QRAA have benefited artists in highly impactful ways, such as providing successful exposure to attract commercial gallery representation, commissioned work, as well as providing the financial opportunity to grow their careers and to have the confidence to enter other awards.
