For Young Artists
Our Perfect New World Project is a new Flying Arts Alliance initiative, designed to support and encourage young people to engage in the visual arts in regional Queensland centres. It is a brand-new program to run alongside the touring exhibition of the 2020 Queensland Regional Art Awards (QRAA).
Young artists are provided with the exciting opportunity to develop new skills, techniques, ways of thinking and writing strategies to create artworks under the guidance of accomplished arts practitioners, via schools, in community, culminating in a young people’s exhibition at their local gallery.
Courthouse Gallery in Cairns hosted Libby Derham, Bianca Tainsh and Darren Blackman to facilitate workshops to youth and families over the Paint the Town launch weekend.
Mulga Lands Gallery hosted artists Libby Derham and LeAnne Vincent to facilitate workshops with young people at the schools in their community.
Grassland Art Gallery hosted artists Katrina Goldsworthy and LeAnne Vincent to inspire the young people in the community to imagine new worlds.
Artists Fiona Quin and Cathy Condon were hosted through The World Theatre to deliver workshops with the young people in the community.
Toowoomba Regional Gallery hosted Melissa Spratt and Katrina Goldsworthy through their regional local councils’ libraries and galleries over the January 2022 holidays.
Coalface Art Gallery hosted artists Rebecca Lewis and Rose Rigley to imagine new worlds with students at Clarke Creek State School, Moranbah State school and young people in the Moranbah community.
