Deb Clark: Ngandadyi (hello). My name is Deb Clark nee Hazeldean I proudly acknowledge both my cultural heritage’s. I am a Pitcairn Islander descendant on my father’s side and a Proud Yuibera woman (Mackay) on my mother’s side.
I am passionate about my community, culture and country and volunteer in several community programs and reference groups including The Mackay Aboriginal Language Group and the Elders visitation programs that offer cultural support to both our indigenous men and women incarcerated in correctional centres. I am passionate about the revival of our indigenous language through book reading, oral storytelling, song and dance, I love working with both indigenous and non-indigenous people, sharing the richness of our culture and bringing awareness to all community in the hope of bridging gaps between first nations people and the wider community.
