News: March

Colours of Queensland –
Celebrating Queensland Regional Artists

Noogooraville

It’s an exciting month for Flying Arts – our signature exhibition of the year kicks off March 1!

Colours of Queensland brings together the work of 35 Queensland artists to explore what brings colour, life and vibrancy to our regional communities. With an array of artworks from the controversial to the celebratory, the exhibition is a thought provoking insight into life outside the big city. You can see some of our sneak peeks of the installation on our Instagram, if you want to see behind the scenes.

Our first regional Connecting Arts with School Curriculum session for the year also happens this month in Atherton. Have you ever dreamed of using origami to teach geometry, eco-dying explain teach chemistry, or drawing patterns to explore topographical geography? Our Connecting Arts with School Curriculum sessions bring artists and teachers together to learn how to collaborate in the classroom.

Will you be joining us in Atherton? We can’t wait to see you there!

We also got a chance to meet and greet our team of touring artists and facilitators last week at Ironlak Art & Design Store Brisbane! Our artists and facilitators form the backbone of our Flying Arts family. They are available to deliver workshops for schools and creative communities anywhere in our great state of Queensland.

Making our Mark in the Regions

Clare Poppi teaches Silversmithing

This is the forth year that Clare Poppi has visited Mt Isa with Flying Arts to teach silversmithing techniques to highschool students. We caught up with her to talk about her experiences! Read More

This workshop was also covered by ABC North West – thanks for the write-up, Harriet! View the article here.

Want to know where we’re visiting to deliver By Request workshops and projects this month? Check our By Request Round-up!
