Would you like to develop a long term and sustainable career plan for your professional practice?
Research has identified a lack of opportunities for mid-career or established artists, often referred to as ‘the mid-career desert’. In this session, artists will work together with an industry professional to identify what the next steps are in developing their professional practice. Through the day and a half session artists will create a ‘career map’ which will identify their goals, and then develop strategies to achieve these goals.

– Business management
– strategic thinking and long term planning

Program Dates: 9am – 5pm Friday 9 March and 9am – 2pm Saturday 10 March (two day session)
Venue: University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Toowoomba campus
This intensive is open to mid-career artists defined as artists who have practiced professionally for five to ten years. Limited places available.

Additional Information
John Armstrong has served in a range of roles where he has been responsible for major initiatives in policy and industry development and export as well as large projects with an emphasis on business, sustainability, culture and community accountability and participation. He is presently operating Harbinger Consultants, a cultural and economic development consultancy that has worked extensively in Queensland’s diverse regions, communities and cultural sectors.
Linda Carroli has over 30 years professional experience in media, publishing and communication; creative industries and practice; higher education; and consulting and facilitation. Her projects are principally oriented towards cultural, community, enterprise and regional development and engagement to develop forward planning and strategy that prioritises sustainability by building local capabilities and vision.
