Up to $5,000 per year is available for small schools in regional and remote Queensland with 50 students or less for Artist/Teacher collaborations.*
This opportunity allows schools to work collaboratively with an experienced Flying Arts artist to plan and deliver a visual arts incursion (workshop/residency) of your selection to collaborate on an arts rich experience for students and the wider school community.
Please provide us with as much information as possible about the proposed project you would like delivered. We encourage applicants to be creative in supporting their proposal, e.g. use of images, video, etc.
EOIs will be assessed on alignment with curriculum, engagement, distance from a metropolitan centre, community benefit, creativity of the idea and ongoing impact.
There is no need to tell us the artist you want to work with as we will match you with the best person from our team.

Key Deliverables
– Work with Flying Arts collaboratively to plan the incursion through online meetings or phone calls
– Liaise with selected artist leading up to incursion
– Provide proposed lesson plan developed in conjunction with selected artist prior to project commencement
– Provide documentation of the incursion and complete all acquittal requirements (as outlined overleaf) within four weeks of project conclusion
– Collect and report on feedback regarding the incursion from all school stakeholders
Selection Criteria
– Number of enrolled students (must be 50 or less)
– Alignment with curriculum – focus on Visual Arts linked with non-arts curriculum area
– Distance of school from metropolitan centre
– Evidence of need for the project idea
– Creativity of project idea
– Level of achievable outcomes
– Potential for community engagement and ongoing impact for school and community
What will be supported?
– Ideas that are described clearly with achievable goals
– Projects that meet the selection criteria
– Projects that deliver an exciting Visual Arts incursion
– Projects that have scope to provide benefit to the wider local community
– Projects that can be completed by a single Flying Arts artist
What will not be supported?
– Projects with a mural-based outcome
– Projects primarily focused on an Arts area outside of Visual Arts
– (Arts areas outside of Visual Arts are acceptable as a cross-curriculum link)
– Projects specifying an artist (Flying Arts will match an artist to supported projects)
– Projects that start or conclude outside of the Project Delivery period (August – November 2020)
– Projects that exceed the scope of affordability
– Project applications that are incomplete or missing important supporting documentation or information
– Project applications by schools who have not successfully submitted all acquittal requirements from previously approved Small Schools Fund Projects
Reporting Requirements
Applicants will be required to supply a completed outcome report within four weeks of project conclusion. Outcome report must contain the following:
– High quality, high resolution photographs
– Signed photography clearance forms
– Completed lesson plan
– Project reflection report (question and answer format)
– Online feedback report (question and answer format)
– Completed claims form for material reimbursement
