Flying Arts is Hiring

Program Administrator

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the achievement of organisational goals through effective administration of the professional development program for artists and artsworkers, young artists, educators and creative communities.

Under the direction of the Executive Officer, the position is responsible for planning, coordination and administration of the Association’s core program, comprising scheduled and ‘by request’ professional development services and activities for artists and artsworkers, young artists, educators and creative communities. This annual program delivers workshops, residencies, webinars and projects to metropolitan, regional, rural and remote Queensland. Key clients include local government, schools, youth services, cultural organisations, community services et al.

Applications close Tuesday 12 January, 2016.
(Please Note: the Flying Arts Office will be closed from 23 December 2015 until Monday 11 January 2016)

Flying Arts Curator By Request – Creative Communities

The Flying Arts Curator By Request Program is an exciting new initiative that provides a skilled, experienced curator to creative communities to realise new ideas and directions for local artists looking to exhibit their work in a gallery context. This is achieved through the design, development and installation of a local community exhibition under the guidance of a professional curator.

New Workshop Offering – Primary and Middle School Generalist Teachers

A new initiative for teachers to collaborate with an artist on the Flying Arts Alliance team, to develop an arts lesson plan that links visual and new media arts with non-arts curriculum subjects. Available as a full day or a workshop series, this collaborative model provides a practical way to create a rich curriculum and art experiences for students.

Call for Expressions of Interest – Regional Galleries

Flying Arts is calling for Expressions of Interest from Regional Galleries wishing to play an integral part in our Connecting Arts with the School Curriculum (CASC) 2016 Program.  As a workshop host and liaison, Flying Arts will visit your gallery to facilitate a weekend program for primary and middle school generalist teachers and local artists.  CASC explores the values and benefits of teacher and artist as collaborators and how to use the arts as a tool to deliver non-arts curriculum subjects, and create rich learning experiences for students.

Call for Expressions of Interest – Small Schools

Flying Arts is calling for Expressions of Interest from Small Schools with 50 students or less from regional and remote Queensland to participate in our second year of Small School Mentoring Program program. Selected schools will receive free of charge: a series of one-on-one consultations with an accredited Flying Arts artist, culminating in a one-day custom workshop in your school demonstrating how the arts can be incorporated to deliver rich learning experiences for the class in art and non-arts curriculum areas.

Bursary for Regional and Remote Students (Closes 14 January, 2016)

Queensland College of Art, Griffith University: The non-profit organisation Art in Bark has generously given an endowment to Queensland College of Art, Griffith University for an annual bursary of $10,000 to support a student from a remote or regional area of Queensland, who is about to begin Fine Art studies at the Queensland College of Art.
