QRAA First Nations Artist Award Solo Exhibition

As part of the prize for winning the First Nations Artist Award at the 2025 Queensland Regional Art Awards (QRAA), Charmaine Davis and Flying Arts present Jugun – Country, a solo exhibition at Flying Arts.

Charmaine Davis is a proud Goori woman descended from a matriarchal line of the Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung Nations, and has called Ipswich home for more than 30 years.

Charmaine is deeply inspired by the landscapes and waterways of her Country. Her paintings reflect a spiritual connection to Country and are grounded in ancestral ties, family, identity, and community. Through her work, Charmaine shares not only her own story, but also the stories of her lineage and her people. Charmaine invites viewers to reflect on their own relationship with the land. Her hope is to encourage a greater sense of respect, sensitivity, and connection to the places that sustain us all.

The exhibition will run from 3 – 23 September, with an opening event 4 September 10-11am. 

Charmaine’s winning work of the First Nations Artist Award is ‘Clarence River – Stories of home III’ 2025. This work is currently on tour across the state as part of the QRAA Touring Exhibition (locations here).
