Workshop Title: Lantern Making for Parades

Tutor: Wanda Bennett

Workshop Summary: Participants will use lightweight cane and bamboo and paper to create unique lanterns of varying sizes and designs, great for the garden a parade or any special occasion or event. 

Audience: Primary School. Secondary School, Young People, Adults

Workshop Title: Shadow Puppetry

Tutor: Wanda Bennett

Workshop Summary: This workshop caters for all ages and abilities; the only requirement is that students have basic scissor skills. Working in small groups the students will choose a basic story for their shadow performance. This “story” (approx 3 – 5 minuets) may be taken from a book either in full or an extract, a poem or may be created from the students’ imagination. The stories could be narrated or performed to music leaving the audience to interpret the tale.

Workshop Summary: Make your own lantern to carry in a procession or to decorate a space for a special event. This workshop presents many of the skills required to create large festival type lanterns.
