Workshop Title: Watercolour for Beginners

Workshop Summary: Using the palette knife to ‘sculpt’ the form, in painting, creates an exciting connection with the subject and will help to free up your style. Capture the essence of the subject without the fussy detail and create energetic representational paintings or compelling works of the imagination. Enjoy being bold and take home 2 finished works!

Workshop Title: Travels with my Paintbrush: Painting and Mixed Media

Tutor: Catherine Parker

Workshop Summary: Travel with your paintbrush, exploring and experimenting across the vast terrain of acrylic painting and mixed media. Participants have the opportunity to move beyond the conventional and explore an exciting range of processes and materials, from painting, drawing and simple printmaking to found objects. Canvas, paper, wood, plastic, collage, ink, pastel and fineliners are just some of the materials we will be experimenting with to create a contemporary and eclectic range of 2D and 3D artworks. This workshop is largely explorative in nature yet allows for conceptual development, with participants taking home a variety of skills and processes. This is suitable for those who wish to experiment, explore and take risks.

Workshop Title: Landscape Interpretation in Watercolour

Tutor: Tony Walker

Workshop Summary: Journey into watercolour with inspiring instruction in a free and expressive approach to landscape and figurative painting in watercolour for artists of all levels. In this informal, enjoyable workshop there will be guidance on interpretation – conveying your thoughts or emotions about the subject - rather than purely realist/ impressionist painting. The aim is that participants will improve technically and gain further insight into the artform of watercolour while also producing some finished work.
