Workshop Title: Waters Edge Environmental Art

Tutor: Jill Chism

Workshop Summary: The workshop will commence with an information session on environmental art along with discussion of the concept for The Waters Edge workshop. Water’s edge site will be chosen either at the workshop or beforehand where all participants’ works will be created. Participants will need to be able to travel to the site by own vehicle or shared transport. They will also be shown the basics of camera use for recording out-door installations. Once at the site there will be group exploration and discussion of the contextual elements and possible approaches. The expectation is that at least two artworks will be created per day over the two days. On the first day, participants will create works using materials on site only. On the second day participants are expected to bring a collection of objects or materials to site from a personal collection or as a response to what they understand about the site from the initial exploration. Finally the workshop convener as well as the participants will document all artworks. Where appropriate the process of creating works will also be documented.
