Workshop Title: Books with Flair

Workshop Summary: Hand-made books are wonderful receptacles for storing personal memorabilia or for recording thoughts. Participants learn many different techniques, and make samples of each, as well as viewing and discussing innovative variations as inspiration for future projects. Adult classes can be designed to suit the needs of the group. In the introductory classes, participants will learn basic skills and develop confidence to try new variations later themselves. Advanced adult classes will challenge participants to explore more complex structures and advanced techniques of book-construction.

Workshop Title: Paper with Pizzazz

Workshop Summary: Creating your own uniquely decorated paper is hugely satisfying (as well as useful!). These papers can be used to make backgrounds for drawings, as covers and pages for artist books, to fold into boxes, as wrappings for gifts … the list is endless. Participants learn many different techniques, and take home the samples made in class. Classes can be tailored to suit the need of the group and can include patterned dyeing, paste patterning, crayon melts, marbling, embossing, stamping, stencilling, spattering, and some unusual printing and collage techniques. Adult classes can be designed to suit the needs of the group. In the introductory classes, participants will learn basic skills and develop confidence to try new variations later themselves. Advanced adult classes will challenge participants to explore more complex techniques.

Workshop Title: Handmade Books for Children
Tutor: Rebecca Berret
Workshop Summary: This workshop uses simple stitching and folding techniques, easily accomplishable by primary age children, to make handmade books. Each participant will produce one or more handmade books, which can be used as personal notebooks, journals or sketchbooks. Artwork can be added to a handmade book to create an Artists’ Book.
