Workshop Title: 'Frock- n- roll' mixed media textile 3-d

Tutor: Corinne Colbert

Workshop Summary: Pop-up sculptures exploring 'fun-frilled'(c), salvaged textiles mixed to include recycled paper, novels, shoe boxes, fabrics, used gift cards, string, tape, paper and cardboard and bric-a-brac. It is 3-D sculpture with humor!

Workshop Title: Frock-a-Thon, soft/hard sculptures.

Tutor: Corinne Colbert

Workshop Summary: All ages intermediate and advanced students for the 'frock-a-thon' hands on sculpture workshop will explore soft /hard sculpture techniques, unique textile art objects, in the form of figurines, for a table art exhibition The figurines can be either attached on a found base or on walls. The outcomes are an exhibition of unique and humorous fashion stereotypes displayed in a variety of spaces, using salvaged and found materials not associated with traditional sculpture.

Workshop Title: Felt Snakes and Creepy Crawly Creatures

Workshop Summary: Everyone can learn the simple craft of making their own felt creature with multi coloured fleece and wet soapy hands. Each activity will suit the varying ability levels of students. Lots of fun!

Workshop Summary: During this workshop participants will learn basic felting techniques, including Nuno felting, a method used for felting onto light weight cotton or silk and ideal for creating tropical garments and scarves.

Workshop Title: Contemporary Batik - Functional and Decorative Fabric

Tutor: Petena Moesker

Workshop Summary: In this workshop participants create fabric for clothing and/or soft furnishings, or develop images of a highly aesthetic nature for finished artworks. Work with design, the wonderful dynamics of pattern and colour to develop decorative motifs and personal icons in the first instance. Develop an appreciation of this ancient art form, understanding the elements and principles of design, learning about the tools and techniques involved (skills), understanding dyeing cellulose based fabrics, and realising the potential of the art form in a contemporary context.

Workshop Title: Fabulous Fabric Hats

Tutor: Christine Yarker

Workshop Summary: In this workshop participants are shown how to create and design a variety of hat patterns. This opens a new world of possibilities for the sewing enthusiast wanting to turn their talents towards millinery without the messy processes of steaming and blocking. Participants start off by learning how to measure for a precise fit. Then after drafting their hat pattern, students go on to construct a fabulous fabric hat, which not only looks wonderful but fits perfectly and reflects their own personality.

Workshop Title: Fascinator/Cocktail Hat

Tutor: Christine Yarker

Workshop Summary: Participants will make their own fashionable fun headpiece for the races, wedding or cocktail party – discover techniques to create stunning headwear, which include fabric bias roses, feather trims, ways with veiling and other simple to make trims. Then, how to put it all together to make a fabulous hat!

Workshop Title: Felt-making

Tutor: Christine Yarker

Workshop Summary: In this workshop, students will be introduced to the basic techniques involved in making felt, a non-woven fabric. Participants will then go on to learn how to add surface design; this will include other fibres and fabrics, pre-felt shapes, pockets and flaps, beads, and lovely textures. Also covered in this workshop is the resist method to create a seamless article - hat, bag, and mobile phone cover or even a sculpture or vessel.

Workshop Title: Artful Weaving and Natural Fibres

Workshop Summary: This 3 to 2-day workshop is designed to introduce the participants to natural fibres and teach basic fibre art techniques. Skills learnt will include the making of baskets, rope, jewellery, musical instruments, hats and garden accessories. All materials are supplied and include both natural and recycled fibres.
