Flying Arts also partners with community groups to source individual or multiple artists for special workshops and projects such as artist-in-residencies, festivals, shows, community art projects and to work with special needs groups.

Funding may be available through Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) and/or Regional Arts Fund (RAF) submissions, other government departments and local sponsors.

 

JULIA BELL

Celebration Sculptures Lantern making
Giant three-dimensional lanterns are a focal point for any community event. The lanterns can stand as sculptural parade pieces and can be lit internally or externally for evening events. Three to four days are required to complete one large piece or a couple of smaller pieces. Download the workshop outline here

Your wall, your story, your image Mural
Make a unique public artwork based on your school or community group's activities, history, the surrounding environment or participant's opinions and feelings. A mural is a great way to focus groups to work towards a common goal and learn new skills in a non-threatening environment. Download the workshop outline here

PAUL JOHNSON

Art in public places Workshop presentation
Participants will learn the full range of considerations necessary to secure and complete a commission for a public artwork. The workshop includes publicity and promotion; designing for public spaces; materials, constructions, conservation and safety; and finances, contracts and copyright. The workshop will be centred around a hypothetical local project and requires enagagement in the design work, materials researchig, costing and preparing clear proposals. Materials levy approx $5. Learn the basics of short filmmaking through a hands-on approach. Write, act and film a two-minute contemporary silent film in collaboration with other workshop participants. Download the workshop outline here
