Drawing and Painting ANNEKE SILVER Advanced drawing For those who have completed Drawing for beginners, as well as for other more experienced participants. There will be further exploration of drawing techniques and processes, after discussing with the participants a number of directions, within the following parameters: various drawing exercises further exploring tone, line and texture with a more complex subject matter; emphasis on expression, interpretation, construction, measurement; and drawing from life with model. Beyond life drawing Participants who have spent many happy hours life drawing but are wondering where to go next will benefit from this masterclass, designed to stimulate ideas and develop new approaches for working with the figure in different media. Colour Theory, Art History, and Public Art ANNEKE SILVER Colour explored A This masterclass exclusively explores the use and meaning of colour including value chroma and pigments in various media and demonstrates how to develop individualized colour palettes. Participants will examine the nature and use of colour and its conceptual and emotional aspects in contemporary art. There are four Colour Explored workshops available for those who want to follow up with more approaches. Download the workshop outline here.. Picasso’s foot: encounters with art A Encounters with Art is series of workshops that are a unique blend of art appreciation and practical experimentation. These workshops are designed for those who are quite experienced and who are interested in encountering ideas, concepts and techniques of mainstream 20th century art. Diverse approaches to art making will be examined, such as Impressionism, Cubism, Expressionism, Surrealism, Colour field and Post-modern experimental concepts, linking international stylistic movements with developments in Australia. Each two-day workshop is an independent unit and will address one or two related art movements at the same time starting in the late 19th century to the end of the 20th century. The workshops will incorporate lectures, demonstrations and practical work, with an emphasis on the latter. Download the workshop outline here..

Digital SLR photography for advanced photographers Photography SS An introduction to the craft of using a digital SLR camera, this workshop will enable participants to improve the quality of their images before and after capture. Topics discussed include: JPEG, TIFF and RAW formats; colour management; camera histograms; image sharpening; and enlarging digital files. Download the workshop outline here.. Photoshop A Aimed at participants who are beginning to work with digital images. The workshop will cover basic Photoshop techniques taking participants through the basic steps of the program to improve the quality of their captured digital images. Specific workshop content will be developed for each group in consultation with the artist. Available mid – late April. No outline yet.. Glass JUDITH BOHM-PARR Warm glass or fusing and slumpingLevel 3: Advanced A In these workshops participants can undertake 3D mold costing or other jewellery techniques such as pate de verre beads, kiln formed jewellery elements, and torch beads. Scupture - 3D SHENA HAYDEN The wonderful world of papier mache: professional development for primary school teachers A TPD This workshop is to provide primary teachers with the skills to conduct papier mache classes for their students. Teachers will learn how to manipulate and build imaginative creatures and interesting forms using paper, card, wire and tape, and also learn how to share these skills with their students. Demonstrations of many different construction techniques will be presented. Available April – June. Materials levy approx $10 per person. Download the workshop outline here.. Textiles FIONA WRIGHT Machine embroidery inspired by Hundertwasser and Klee A SS Taking inspiration from the masters of colour and line, Hundertwasser and Klee, will be the starting point for these techniques. Participants will develop their own designs inspired by these artists’ work. This workshop really lends itself to working fast and small – postcard size – to try out ideas. The workshop covers dyeing silks, effects such as layering, stitching, and cutting back of sheer fabrics. Materials levy approx $7 per person. Download the workshop outline here..
