Artist Statement

A trip from Western Victoria, through Mildura, Broken Hill and Western Queensland, re-ignited my love of wide open spaces. I was drawn to the vast desert plains, distant mirages, heat haze and little blob-like distant trees.  The spinifex – particularly the round nest-like shapes, with died off hollows and re-growth fascinated me.   A ’Spinifex series’ - works on paper and mixed media canvases have been the result.
