A painting of a succulent that is growing against one of the barns on our property at Toogoolawah. Its botanical name is Agave Americana Marginata and it originates from Mexico. It is sometimes mistakenly called a century plant. Some members of the agave genus do take one hundred years to flower but not this particular plant. The flower stem of perhaps five metres height, appears when the plant is between fifteen and twenty years old. The parent plant then dies leaving many small plants in its stead. This agave is notable for its sculptural and dramatic appearance.
