Artist Statement

This Acrylic painting of the northern end of Picnic Bay was executed after the Flying Arts Magnetic Island Artist Retreat in 2005-a renaissance in my art career after two years of major illness. This week with Dr Anneke Silver and Ron McBurnie and Flying Arts Louisa Gordon, was a time when Maggie Island wove its magic on all the participants and was a wonderful creative and happy time. I feel a great affinity with the coastal areas of Northern Queensland since moving to Mackay in 1964 and then a little further north to Cairns in 1969.
