Artist Statement

Since 1971 I have worked and visited Islands in the Pacific such as Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga and Western Samoa and I have a special feeling for the people of the islands. I have watched the lifestyle change over the years but the one constant is on Sunday when villages travel - sometimes by boat to another island - to attend the church services. These glimpses of their lifestyle have had a profound influence on my painting.
