About Flying Arts
Flying Arts is a Queensland icon, a cultural counterpart to the Royal Flying Doctor Service on which it was modelled. Established in 1971 by artist and pilot Mervyn Moriarty on the basis that access to the arts and culture should not be a luxury for those who live in our cities. Flying Arts offers professional development workshops and exhibiting opportunities for regional and remote visual artists and communities. Flying Arts also provides accredited online training and special residencies for artists of all ages, including youth. As a funded and not for profit service provider, Flying Arts uses its state government subsidy to fulfil its mission 'to provide access to innovative visual arts experiences'.

Visual Arts Online
The Visual Arts Online (VAO) course is like a series of virtual workshops on the Internet. The course is for learners of all ages who wish to acquire or revise basic theoretical and practical visual arts skills. VAO is also an excellent way to build up a folio for tertiary applications, and depending on what and how you enrol, may give you credit towards TAFE courses. The only pre-requisites are Internet access and a desire to embrace creative exchange.
