Management Committee

PRESIDENT Jan Manton is Director of Jan Manton Art, a commercial gallery exhibiting contemporary Australian and International artists.  Jan has had a long involvement in the arts as a past member of QUT Art Collection Committee and the Caboolture Shire Council Art Collection. 

VICE PRESIDENT Glenda Sacre has worked across all sectors of the Creative Industries in her role with the Department of Education, Training and the Arts.  This includes working within the arts curriculum area for TAFE Queensland and contributing to major policy documents including the Queensland Government Cultural Policy - Creative Queensland, the Creative Industries Strategy and managing funding allocations for the creative industries.  Glenda’s background includes working as a studio potter, operating her own gallery, teaching ceramics.  At the present time Glenda is developing a skills and workforce planning strategy plan for the Transport and Logistics industry sectors.  

TREASURER Jay McDowall is a Senior Business Analyst for Minter Ellison Lawyers, recognised by Asian Legal Business as the largest law firm in the Asia Pacific and ranked 22nd in the "Global 100". At Minter Ellison Lawyers Jay is responsible for budgeting and analysis across the Brisbane office.

SECRETARY Joanne Armytage is a practicing artist who has run ceramic workshops in schools and community centres. She has also created a number of public art projects in conjunction with SOFA - Stephanie Outridge Field and the Brisbane City Council. Jo has also written a training program for the Brisbane City Council regarding the process of developing a public art project. In 2005, 2006 Jo was on the Planning Committee for the Verge National Ceramic Conference held in Brisbane. Jo is currently working at St Margaret’s Anglican Girls College on a major ceramic mural with the primary school students.

Patrick McElligott publishes Inflight magazine for MacAir Airlines, another of Flying Arts’ sponsors, and has been in the publishing and marketing industry for 17 years. Inflight magazine is now distributed Australia wide, in eight regional airlines, two bus lines and New South Wales Countrylink Railway.

Phil Diver is CEO and Company Secretary of CISC Pty Ltd a property, investment and training organisation and was previously Foundation CEO of the Skills Development Centre for Queensland Health where he led the establishment of the Harries: the National Digital Art Award.  Phil’s background is in international consulting and venture capital, with a particular interest in marketing. He holds an Adjunct Professorship with the University of Queensland.

Lubi Thomas is a professional artist - visual arts (BA visual arts, QUT) and has an active public art practice under the collaborative banner of Davis-Thomas. She also works for the Creative Industries Precinct, QUT as Creative Project Coordinator, Curator and Public Programs. Lubi has over 15 years experience in Creative Project and art event organisation, both in Australia and abroad.

New Board members

Elliott Bledsoe is creative director of Artcast, a free art podcasting service that is designed to open up new avenues to engaging with, understanding and investing in art. He is also the editor of FourThousand, a dedicated weekly Brisbane email e-zine designed to keep people up to date with what's happening around Brisbane that week.
His day job is as a project officer with creative commons Australia that promotes flexible copyright options for creators using a suite of free standardised licences that create a voluntary “some rights reserved” system that let you tell the world what they can and can't do with your stuff. He researches creativity and innovation in the digital environment.

BeverleyTrivett - As business owner Beverley has a depth of commercial experience and knowledge.  She has supported many philanthropic causes. She is a committee member of The Australiana Fund and works closely with many other charitable and arts foundations.
