Flying Arts’ exhibition program includes an annual regional art award sponsored by ABN AMRO Morgans and Bank of Queensland and one or two speciality exhibitions, toured courtesy of NQX Freight System.

Forging Ahead - Silversmithing exhibition
Forging Ahead is a workshop and touring exhibition project profiling silversmithing in Central Queensland. Silversmith Lisa Gaze conducted workshops for Central Queensland communities covering a variety of silversmithing techniques such as soldering, stone setting, the use of titanium & texture, and cloisonne enamelling. 12 original pieces by Lisa Gaze, and 12 pieces by workshop participants, were included in the Forging Ahead touring exhibition, which was launched at Coalface Gallery, Moranbah on 30th November 2006. Since then it has continued to tour through nine regional centres and ww thank every one who has visited the exhibitions.

Five Senses
With the support of Arts Queensland and the Federal Government through VACS (Visual Art and Craft Strategy) we will be holding a showcase exhibition in Brisbane in 2008. Artists have contributed works which make reference to their Five Senses and to promote those characteristics which are distinctive to their place in Queensland. The exhibition is focused around five themes: loss, destruction, rejuvenation, growth, restoration. The show at the Queensland State Library 6 November - 5 December 2008.

New Show for Regional Galleries: Touring Digital Exhibition Inter View
Curated by Robb Kelly from Raw Space Galleries, this compact touring exhibition features digital stories by four regional Queensland artists: Di Ball, Jenny Fraser, Tina Gonsalves and Natalie Woodlock. The films are provided in DVD format and display equipment is available for hire. Inter View is available now. Workshops and artists talks are also available to accompany the exhibition (refer to the “Film” section in this program booklet). Inter View costs $880 inc GST + equipment hire if necessary.  Book Now!

2008 Regional Art Awards - online only this year

The Regional Art Awards competition is open only to regional Queensland and northern New South Wales residents. It excludes artists currently residing in the Brisbane City Council area and south of Armidale in New South Wales.
This year’s Regional Art Awards will be held online only due to unforseen circumstances. Entries including images, paperwork, must be received by Flying Arts by 29 August 2008.
