PRESIDENT - Jan Manton Jan Manton is Director of Jan Manton Art, a commercial gallery exhibiting contemporary Australian and International artists. Jan has had a long involvement in the arts as a past member of QUT Art Collection Committee and the Caboolture Shire Council Art Collection. She served as the 2009 President of the Association. VICE PRESIDENT - Glenda Sacre Glenda Sacre has worked across all sectors of the Creative Industries in her role with the Department of Education, Training and the Arts. This includes working within the arts curriculum area for TAFE Queensland and contributing to major policy documents including the Queensland Government Cultural Policy - Creative Queensland, the Creative Industries Strategy and managing funding allocations for the creative industries. Glenda’s background includes working as a studio potter, operating her own gallery, and teaching ceramics. At the present time Glenda is developing a skills and workforce planning strategy plan for the Transport and Logistics industry sectors. Glenda served as the 2009 Vice President of the Association. SECRETARY - Phil Diver Phil Diver is CEO and Company Secretary of CISC Pty Ltd a property, investment and training organisation and was previously Foundation CEO of the Skills Development Centre for Queensland Health where he led the establishment of the Harries: the National Digital Art Award. Phil’s background is in international consulting and venture capital, with a particular interest in marketing. He holds an Adjunct Professorship with the University of Queensland. Phil served as the 2009 Secretary of the Association. TREASURER - Bradley Conn Bradley Conn is a Principal of MHM Accountants, a boutique Chartered Accounting Practice in the Brisbane CBD. Bradley commenced his accounting career with Price Waterhouse back in 1995 and has been with MHM since 1997. One of Bradley's areas of focus and expertise is the provision of proactive and timely financial management advice for a diverse array of small and medium size businesses throughout Queensland and New South Wales. Bradley served as the 2009 Treasurer of the Association. Committee Members Beverley Trivett Beverley Trivett is a business owner with a depth of commercial experience and knowledge. She has supported many philanthropic causes. She is on the National Council of The Australiana Fund and Chair of The John Trivett Foundation. She also works closely with many other charitable and arts foundations. Beverley served on the committee in 2009. Kirsty Veron Kirsty Veron has worked in the arts for more than 35 years, in a range of capacities and across several art forms. Before joining the team at Positive Solutions where she manages the BoardConnect program, her experience included two years as manager of chamber ensemble Southern Cross Soloists, twelve months as acting manager of the Redcliffe Cultural Centre (including the Stage DoorGallery), seven years as manager of Queensland Arts Council’s multi-art form program, ‘Ontour by request’, (which included managing the touring exhibition program) and two years as General Manager of Darwin Theatre Company. She also spent many years in Townsville and at various times worked for Dance North, New Moon Theatre Company and Townsville Community Music Centre. Kirsty has a Master of Creative Arts (JCU), Bachelor of Arts (UNE) and an Associate Diploma of Performing Arts (JCU). In 1996, she was awarded a Townsville City Council Arts, Culture and Entertainment Award for “Outstanding Service to Arts & Culture”. Brittany Guy Brittany is an active member of the Queensland art scene currently engaged in projects for the Brisbane Festival and Brisbane City Council. Her business credits include Youth Outreach Librarian - Logan City Council, Major Brisbane Festivals – Brisbane Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Youth Arts Queensland, Backbone’s 2 High Festival and the Magdalena Women’s Festival. Brittany has a Bachelor of Creative Industries - Performance Studies (QUT) and is currently completing a Master of Information Services – Librarianship (Curtin University). Margaret Mclennan Margaret Mclennan is a Barrister presently working within the Fullagar Chambers group in Brisbane. The practice is varied, predominantly Family Law - Property and Children. Margaret has worked in the profession since graduating in legal practice in 2004. In addition to her legal qualifications Margaret also has a Bachelor of Communication (Griffith University), an Associate Diploma of Performing Arts (QUT) and Certificate of Nursing (Registered Nurse) (RoyalBrisbane Hospital). Margaret has a keen interest in arts and has professional experience as an actor and filmmaker. She is active in the community and currently serves in a volunteer capacity for the Women’s Legal Service, the Caxton Street Legal Centre, Amnesty International and The Actors Benevolent Fund. BOARD APPOINTMENTS Dr Janet McDonald Dr Janet McDonald is a representative from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). Dr McDonald received her Ph.D. majoring in Theatre for Youth from Arizona State University in 1999, where she was also awarded the 1998/99 Distinguished Graduate Teacher Assistant Award. She has been a high school Drama teacher since 1987 and is currently Head of the School of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba. In 2008, she was a co-recipient of the USQ Excellence in Teaching Award and was invited to Chair the management committee of Youth Arts Queensland. Her current research interests include; regional youth arts initiatives, developing strategies for sustaining theatre arts practise in regional towns, as well as her ongoing research into masculinities and actor training at USQ. Sue Sara - General Manager Corporate Affairs Queensland, Xstrata Copper Sue Sara was appointed as GM Corporate Affairs Queensland for Xstrata Copper in February 2008. Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Sue is responsible for media, government and community relations for Xstrata’s copper operations in Queensland. Since joining Xstrata in December 2003 as Corporate Affairs Manager for Xstrata Copper, Sue developed and implemented the Xstrata Community Partnership Program (XCPP) in North Queensland and Queensland. She has formerly held senior communications and corporate affairs roles in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney in Australia, the Asia Pacific region and the United States with consultancies and companies including MIM Holdings, Apple Computer and IBM Australia. Sue holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland (UQ), post graduate qualifications from the Queensland University of Technology, is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA) and a Member of the PRIA. She is the Chairperson of the Minerals Council of Australia’s (MCA) Sustainable Development Conference Committee, a member of the MCA’s Regional and Community Development Working Group. She is also a member of UQ’s Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining Advisory Board and Graduate Certificate in Community Relations Advisory Committee.
