ARTIZ - YOUNG ARTISTS RESIDENCY

- is the annual gathering of emerging young artists from all around Queensland.

Are you passionate about Visual Arts? Want to know more about visual arts education and career opportunities,meet other creative young people and develop your art making skills? Artiz is the annual gathering of emerging artists in Year 10 - 12 from all across Queensland and is a cornerstone of the Flying Arts program. In 2010 this popular week-long residency situated in the heart of Brisbane takes on a more substantial tone. A recharged, broadly based program of hands-on visual arts experiences, excursions, information, expertise and resources will provide you with a full picture of training, education and career opportunities as well as immersion in creative practice. Top line tutors, educators, artists and high-profile special guests will all contribute to this quality program.

Funding Assistance - Two NEW Travel Scholarships available

Two scholarships for regional and remote Queensland students are available to cover the full cost of a return flight to the residency from anywhere in Queensland. Click here for the application form. It is due Monday 7 May 2010 and you will be notified Tuesday 8 May 2010.

If you are experiencing a disability or disadvantage and require support to participate in Artiz you may be eligible to apply for financial assistance through Access Arts SAFE fund – please click here for details. Who can attend? 15 - 17 year olds with a passion for art from across Queensland.

Where is Artiz? Duchesne College, University of Queensland, St.Lucia Campus, College Road, Brisbane.  Workshops, activities and excursions taking place throughout the city and on the UQ campus.

When is Artiz? Commences 9am Monday 28 June and concludes early in the afternoon of Saturday 3 July 2010 with an exhibition that family, friends and key supporters are invited to attend.

How much isArtiz?

$420 Full fee registrations - closes Monday 7 June

Fee covers all expenses for the week including accommodation, workshops,excursions and main meals.

Fee does not include your travel expenses to get to and from the residency.

Limited places available for Brisbane based participants.

There are also limited support placements available. Flying Arts, in conjunction with Access Arts, will offer advice and assistance where required,to ensure all participants receive the necessary support to ensure a quality and rewarding experience – enquire for details.

Cancellation and refund policy

If you need to cancel your registration please let us know so your place can be given to someone else. Deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel by Monday 31 May,any extra moneys paid will be fully refunded. No refunds will be given after this date.
