Information for QAA Members

About Flying Arts Inc

Flying Arts is an arts and cultural development organisation which has been providing visual arts development services to artists and communities around Queensland for 40 years. It is a not-for-profit membership association which receives base funding from Arts Queensland and additional support from a number of corporate partners, sponsors and benefactors. Flying Arts is committed to the development of the arts in Queensland through providing innovative opportunities for the appreciation, practice and professional development of the visual and media arts as fulfilling lifetime interest or career.

Over the past 40 years our focus has been primarily in regional and remote Queensland. Earlier this year we forged a strategic relationship with QAA in order to work together to provide a comprehensive range of service to artists throughout Queensland. With the wind up of QAA, Flying Arts will endeavour to fill the space and, in time, expand its range of services to meet the needs of emerging and practicing artists throughout the state.

QAA Member Transition

Earlier this year QAA & Flying Arts formed a strategic alliance. Under the terms of the alliance a reciprocal member relationship was established under which QAA members automatically became Associate Members of Flying Arts.  This situation remains unchanged under the new circumstances brought about by the wind up of QAA as described below:

In the short term Flying Arts will:

  • Set up an insurance plan to mirror and enhance that provided by QAA to provide continuity and security of cover for participating accredited artists
  • Provide Associate Member status for all current financial Accredited Members until the expiry date
  • Provide Associate Member status for all current financial Standard Members until the expiry date
  • Offer access to Flying Arts current member benefits including
    • Discounts on workshops and events held in Brisbane and around Queensland
    • Discounts on art supplies
    • Regular information bulletins

In the medium term we expect to be able to expand our support to members through additional online and offline services and benefits.

In the longer term (2012) we plan to undertake a full review of services with view to providing a comprehensive range of activities, programs and support that will assist artists and the visual arts sector to continue to grow and flourish.

To satisfy privacy legislation requirements QAA members wishing to make the transition across to Flying Arts may do so by completing the on line ‘transition of membership form’. Click on this link: QAA/Flying Arts Member Transition Form to take you to the transition web page.
