Final call for artists: Emerge Booklet

A final call and new opportunity for Australian artists to have the chance at not only exposing their talents but also the possibility at gaining gallery representation is quickly approaching. The first issue of the Emerge Booklet for 2012 currently has only five places remaining. The coffee table style booklet aims to give artists recognition in the art world and to assist with career growth.

An exclusive and limited print run of the booklet will be posted to selected regional, artist-run and major art galleries throughout Australia and also available for purchase. A limit of 18 artists will feature in the booklet. The booklet will be launched at Market to Market in Margaret St, Toowoomba Friday 16 November at 6pm.

Call for entries: exURBAN SCREENS project

The call for entries is now open to media and video artists, distributors, producers, galleries, filmmakers, universities or institutions from all over the world. You are invited to submit works for the inaugural exURBAN SCREENS project that will be held in Frankston between 23 June and 7 July 2012. This project will consist of a number of sites including gallery and public spaces.

exURBAN SCREENS is seeking works through this open call in the form of moving image (videos, motion graphics, animation) and still images (photographic works for light boxes or mural-sized prints). Creative producers of all types are challenged to respond to ‘ex/sub/light/outer’ urban setting of exURBAN SCREENS and/or the curatorial theme ‘(Is there) Light in outer space?’.

Unlimited opportunities for Australian artists

Australian artists and artsworkers with disability who are involved in any area of the arts are invited to apply to attend Unimited UK. This international arts and disability gathering will showcase Unlimited, the largest program of work by artists with disability ever commissioned. Whilst in London, participants will also be able to attend a range of panel discussions, meetings and workshops. Participants will then share their experiences at the Arts Activated Conference in Sydney on the 30-31 October 2012.

Unlimited UK will subsidise a group of Australians to travel to London in September to attend the ‘Festival of the World’, part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Applications close on 1 June 2012.

Artists Wanted

Urban Smart Projects is seeking artists of all ages to paint traffic signal boxes around the Brisbane area before 30 June. The first step in the process is to go to the “PAINT A BOX” page of the Urban Smart Projects website and chose a box to paint.  Zoom in on the map to find your neighbourhood and look for the little green box icons which show where available boxes are.

Anyone is welcome to apply.  The requirements for each project can vary but as a rule four essentials are that:

  • You must live, work or study in the municipality of the box
  • You must have your design approved by Urban Smart Projects
  • You must abide by the details outlined in the Participant Agreement
  • You must use the paint and safety equipment provided.

Chief Executive Officer

Arts Access Australia is looking for a suitably qualified person to lead the organisation and take over from our current CEO from October this year. This position will act as the figurehead and voice of Australia’s vibrant arts and disability sector, as well as leading AAA’s diverse program of advocacy, sector development and project work. AAA is led by people with disability. Applications from all areas of Australia are welcome.

Can You Design and Produce the 2013 Sunshine Coast Australia Day Award?

Sunshine Coast Council is looking for an artist to create next year's Australia Day Award trophies. The Australia Day Awards celebrate the achievement and contribution of individuals and community organisations in our region. To apply to create the eight (8) awards, please submit a CV and up to three jpeg images of work you have created and which are relevant to this EOI. Also, provide the following details for each image - size, materials used and approximate cost per unit. After a selection process, shortlisted applicants (only) will be contacted.

Submit  to ausdayawards@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au by Friday 1 June 2012.

 

Connect: Postcard Project 2013

Connect is a postcard project that aims to reach, connect and unite artists with other artists through the creation and sharing of artwork that is of standard postcard size. The theme for the artwork is completely open – but please, no offensive topics will be considered.

Once artists sign up and pay the $15 entry fee, two blank standard postcard sized letterpress papers will be posted to you so you can create and construct your work. When you have finalised your work either before or by the due date post your work back to Emerge. The works will be photographed and placed on the website before being posted to a random participant to keep. Artists are encouraged to use a number of mediums to produce their artwork, however please keep the postcards 2D.
