Artists are invited to enter the Arid Sculptural Exhibition & Prize to be held 8 September - 14 October 2012 at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden as part of Port Augusta''s ''Arid Festival''.

1st Prize $2,500 2nd Prize $1,000 People's Choice Prize $500 and School Prize $500.

Expressions 2012: The Wool Quilt Prize

To promote excellence in contemporary art quilt making, the National Wool Museum is offering an acquisitive award of $3000 with the winning entry to be acquired for the Museum’s contemporary wool quilt collection.

Offered biennially, Expressions has grown in popularity since its inception in 2000, demonstrating the breadth of innovation and creative possibilities afforded by the use of wool in art quilt making.

This year's prizes include a new category for digital art:

  • The Wayne Kratzmann Art Prize $7000 total value, Incl. $5000 cash prize, acquisitive, plus a two week residency in Brisbane
  • Xstrata Young Artist Development Award* $5000 cash award; non-acquisitive
  • Art Shed Brisbane People’s Choice Prize $750 art supplies
  • TAFTA Textile Prize value $1200 prize package Incl. scholarship and airfare to attend the annual TAFTA forum
  • Digital Art Award $2500 value - includes two weeks fully funded residency at ‘The Edge’ Brisbane

All entries will feature in the Flying Arts online gallery and are eligible for the People’s Choice Prize. Following the award of prizes a selection of works will be chosen by the curator to tour throughout Queensland in 2013.
