About Flying Arts
Flying Arts is an arts and cultural development organisation which has been providing visual arts services to regional and remote Queensland for over 40 years. Conceived in 1971 as a cultural counterpart to the Flying Doctor Service the association has played a significant role in inspiring artists and coimmunities and helping to overcome the impacts of regional isolation and remote living. Flying Arts has left a rich legacy in Queensland communities and over the years many program participants have gone on to become celebrated artists, teachers and/or community cultural leaders.
Our mission is to promote the appreciation, practice and professional development of the visual and media arts as a lifetime interest or career, especially to those with limited access.
Our services include workshops, residencies, exhibitions, projects, events, resources, business and project consulting and a raft of online activities.
We are a not for profit association with core funding provided through Arts Queensland. Our services are supported by program revenue, corporate partnerships and philanthropy. We have Donor Gift Recipient (DGR) and Tax Charity Concession (TCC) status.
We are committed to providing opportunities for aspiring, emerging and practicing artists to explore and achieve their creative and career potential.
