Josephine Forster

An interpretation of place and history

Josephine Forster

Josephine Forster lives at her cattle property, ‘Trivalore', which is reached by approximately 55 kilometres of dusty track from Maxwellton, roughly halfway between Mt Isa and Townsville. ‘Trivalore', is the place she fell in love with when she marrried husband John and his country. Originally from Brisbane, Jo trained in both art and nursing and first worked at Richmond as a nursing sister over thirty years ago. She is a committed and professional artist who quoted William Irwin Thomspon in her Retrospective Exhibition, Gulf Savannah River Aerials, to sum up her approach to creative expression:
"The imagination is, not a source of deception and delusion, but a capacity to sense what you do not know, to intuit what you cannot understand, to be more than you can know" Perhaps to paint that which you cannot see? – Josephine Forster.
