Working with both black and white clayboard, we will explore the creation and representation of different textures and subjects. We will also spend time experimenting with various tools (sandpaper, wire brushes, etc.) and different methods for applying ink and colour. Unravel the mysteries of Children’s Picture Book design and illustration. Bring along a story to illustrate. Working initially from a storyboard, expand upon your ideas to create a 32-page dummy rough. The workshop will cover sequencing, pagination, varying the viewpoint, book design conventions, and illustration possibilities.
